When writing your resume, one of the first things you have to consider is your career objective. Ive been there before and I know how challenging it can be to come up with something note-worthy. In this case, it doesnt hurt to look for outstanding career objective examples for resumes you can base on.
Templates meant for students should ideally use the functional resume format, as it is more oriented towards giving the employer a gist of everything you have done. It might or might not be related to the job you are applying for, but yes, one should try to keep it relevant to have the desired results. Give a lot of importance to the objective section of the resume. It is an eye catcher and should be used to the full advantage.
It is a good habit to mention references in resumes, put at least two person name, designation, address, contact details, and your relationship with them. Always mention those people who know us very well and can speak positively about us, preferably, our professor or our boss from a previous company or one from each category.
The cover letter is probably the first thing that the HR personnel sees. So spend more effort in perfecting the cover letter. The subject header should be straight to the point, indicating the position that you are applying for. The first paragraph should be a summary of the entire letter. Note that HR may not have the time to read the entire letter. So be sure to say everything to wish to say in the first paragraph. The body of the letter should elaborate more on why you are applying for the position.
