Explicit descriptions of your tasks and achievements can shed light on the extent of your experience. Accentuate your job titles and experience. The dates of your past employment are very important.
This is the number one reason resumes fail. Entry level candidates fall victim to this flaw more often than more experienced workers but it's a more or less universal problem. If you've ever had to review literally hundreds of resumes in one sitting while looking for people with specific qualifications, you would understand why a too general resume is rejected almost instantly. If you don't know what you want to do, don't expect a recruiter to figure it out for you.
Your resume will either be chosen as a keeper - or relegated to a pile of that will "be kept on file if a job should match your qualifications." (How often have your either heard or read those words before?)
Emphasize your strengths on your resume, in your cover letters and in your interviews. It may sound obvious, but you would be surprised how many people simply list everything they have ever done, convey your passion and link your strengths to measurable results. Employers and interviewers love concrete data. Marcus Buckingham. It doesnt matter how smart we are until it is properly indicated in our resume, our skill will go unnoticed because the interviewer will always first see our resume, not us. Thus, the probability of being selected in an interview largely depends on our resumes.
