3. Content. For the Summary section, and under each job description, there are two basic rules for content. One is to make sure the information is relevant. One of the biggest mistakes I see is spending too much time describing the company, and not enough time describing what the employee did. Unless the client is the Founder or President of the company, any more than one line spent describing it is too much.
List any experience that may be valuable: Any volunteer work that one may have done, any school event that one may have headed and organized, or involvement on a project related to the environment may all be relevant to a potential employer. Make sure that the details about your experiences that you list in your resume are relevant to the job that you are seeking and that they would not be extraneous to the job at hand. For instance, if one in figuring out how to write a resume to apply for a nursing related job, it is more relevant to put in details about volunteer work that one may have done for a charitable institution or at the local hospital rather than putting in information about the summer job as a waiter or a cashier or about being the editor of the school magazine.
Now more than ever, companies have intensified their focus on one area of your performance: money. Employer want leaders who can make, save, and control it, all in order to fight the economic downturn.
Use the guidelines above to create your own exceptional resume, in order to get employers interested in interviewing you. If you find that your resume isnt getting the results you want, change it.
