The popular saying, Rubbish in, rubbish out? is very accurate when it comes to executive resumes. Dont be fooled into thinking that a broad, non-targeted resume provide you with greater opportunities for a wide variety of jobs. Contrary to that belief, you will get the opposite results - if you send an employer a resume that says you excel in sales, HR, technology, teaching, and training the only place your resume will go is in the trash pile.

In other words, focus on the positives. You can create a section titled Attributes and Qualifications to highlight the ways you were able to make a difference in the company. In that section you can very specifically name projects that showcase the highest points in your career. This way, you can help the employer focus on how you will be an asset to their company not the opposite.
The irony here is that many people will have the experience and pre-requisites expected, but will not be in this list of top qualified candidates because the automated systems just wont find their application.
